Driving up from the coast to ski in an electric car? No range anxiety needed: the resort has a Wiiiz charging point, installed in the car park facing the ski school (ESF), at the foot of the slopes.
What is Wiiiz?
Wiiiz is the public charging network of the western Alpes-Maritimes, backed by the urban communities of the CAP’AZUR metropolitan cluster (including the CASA, to which Gréolières belongs) and technically operated by IZIVIA, an EDF subsidiary. The network has around 190 charging stations, mostly 22 kW fast-AC units with two charging points.
How do you charge?
Three ways to start a charge:
- The Wiiiz app (free, iOS/Android) or a subscriber badge
- Without an account: scan the QR code on the charging point and pay by bank card from your phone
- With a partner operator badge (roaming)
The subscription (€6/month) gives preferential rates, but it isn’t required. As a rough guide, a fast-AC charge on the network costs a few euros per hour; the helpline is available 7 days a week on 09 69 322 500.
The perfect plan for a ski day
It’s the electric skier’s dream scenario: plug in the car in the morning, go skiing, and pick up a full battery at 5 pm for the drive back down to Nice or Cannes — the descent will even regenerate a little. Since the charging point faces the ESF, it’s also just steps from the Bogho Sport shop: in the time it takes to plug in, your ski equipment or electric mountain bike will be waiting.
Remember to check real-time availability on the Wiiiz or Chargemap app before setting off, especially on school-holiday weekends.
